Wagner was born on June 27, 1990. He went to Colony High School and eventually played football for the school’s team, where he recorded 125 tackles, including four sacks as a senior in 2007. That same year, Wagner received all-CIF Central Division honours and All-Mount Baldy League accolades while leading his team to a CIF division title which garnered him an offer from Utah State only two years after graduating high school.

His first year at school, he recorded 51 tackles in 11 games, and his third year saw 133 tackles with 0.5 sacks in 12 games before finishing up the last 13 of his final season, where he had 147 total tackles to go along with four sacks and four interceptions – all without missing a single game!
In 2012, Wagner was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the second round of the NFL Draft.
