Gary Busey net worth and salary:
Gary Busey is an American actor who has people talking with his performances in well-known films like “The Buddy Holly Story,” “The Firm,” and the cult classic “Point Break.” He also made appearances on popular television shows such as Gunsmoke, Walker Texas Ranger, Law & Order, and Entourage. And what would a wild card be without reality TV – Gary’s been all over Celebrity Apprentice Season 4 and 6 (and let’s not forget that time he went to rehab!)
William Gary Busey was born on June 29, 1944, to a family living in the small town of Goose Creek for four years. When he was entering fourth grade, his parents decided they needed some change. They moved their lives across the country to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where William attended school with other young people from all over America who relocated there as well. His life took another turn when at 18 years old, he blew out his knee playing football which ended any hope of becoming an NFL player but opened up opportunities for him by getting into theatre classes during college until after two short semesters near graduation time it seemed like something else might be calling him so instead of finishing what would have otherwise been a great career trajectory if not interrupted early enough or simply put, he dropped out and headed for Hollywood.
Busey first became an entertainer when he was a drummer in the 1960s and ’70s under his pseudonyms, “Teddy Jack Eddy” and “Sprunk.” He made his film debut at age 30 as a supporting character opposite Clint Eastwood. His breakout role came ten years later with 1978’s The Buddy Holly Story. He played the title character of Busey’s life story. He received Academy Award consideration (though never winning) while being awarded Best Actor from the critics’ group National Society of Film Critics. He continued regularly working throughout 1980-1989 films, including Silver Bullet, to cement himself as one of Hollywood’s most versatile actors then or now, but also played into some controversy surrounding substance abuse that led to legal problems but also a stint in rehab.
In the 1990s, Busey appeared in several high-profile films, including “Point Break,” Predator 2,” and so on. The 2000s saw him appearing in the Comedy Central reality show “I’m With Busey,” among other roles on TV and in movies. In 2006 he provided his voiceover talent for Grand Theft Auto, which is a controversial Turkish nationalist film called Valley of Wolves, where he played an American military officer who was captured by Kurdish rebels during the Iraq War while negotiating oil interests with Turkey’s prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (now President).
Busey has had a lot of exposure on reality TV, including “Celebrity Rehab with Dr Drew,” “Celebrity Apprentice 4”, and the UK version of Celebrity Big Brother in 2014 as the first American to win. In 2015 he went on Dancing With The Stars for season 21, where he was paired up with dancer Anna Trebunskaya, but they were eliminated during week four, placing them 10th place overall.
It is currently summer 2019, which means that you may have seen Busey around before now, just not by his name or face because this time it’s being announced that Busey’s been doing some work under an alias: Johnnie Walker Black Label Whiskey!
Busey’s career in Hollywood has been going strong for decades, and even at the age of 70 (born 1940), he is still a force to be reckoned with. In 2020 alone, we can see him on television as “Pet Judge,” as well as three upcoming projects: The Gettysburg Address documentary film; Reggie: A Millenial Depression Comedy – an indie comedy that was shot last year but not released until this fall due to disagreements about release date; Rabere, which will most likely premiere next year during prime time slots.
